Black Walnut Cafe
WOW! I can't believe it's been 3 months since my last entry. It's been pretty crazy, but now that I've had a chance to breathe a little, I'll try to catch up!
A new location for Black Walnut Cafe just opened in Cinco Ranch, out in Katy, TX. I was called out by Zeigler Cooper Architects to take a few shots of the exterior and interior.
Shooting public places with people can be a challenge but a little selective focus or slow shutter speeds helps make sure faces aren't recognizable.

Evelyn Meador Library in Seabrook, TX
I recently got to head down to Seabrook, Texas to shoot the brand new Evelyn Meador Public Library. Designed by the talented folks at English Architects who implemented a nautical theme with lots of fun, bright colors and shapes throughout the building. Waves, circles, fun color, transparency, texture, great furniture, carpets, lights and other details make this one inviting for both kids and adults alike. A breath of fresh air in today's digital age.

Modern Ranch
This week I had the chance to work with RD Architecture again. I got to shoot this amazing remodel that turned an original "Brady Bunch" style ranch home into what you see here. We photographed the interior of the home first, while the sun was still up. Then, as the sun began to set behind the trees we were able to move outside and get some shots of the exterior at various light levels with a nice amber glow from the interior lighting.

Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort
Made another trip out to visit the fine folks at Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort. Business is booming at their brand new, state-of-the-art facility, and now that Spring is here and the grass is green, it's time for some new shots of the exterior. This time I went out in the evening. Set on 40 acres out in the country, Northwest of Houston, I knew I'd have some good options for lighting. The sun sets in front of the building so I knew I could get some shots while the sun was still up with the front of the building bathed in a nice warm light, and I could also wait for the sun to set and get some great shots at dusk with the amber glow from the windows and the sky a beautiful cool blue.

Sofia’s Room
We finally finished the nursery which means I get to take some photos of MY house for a change. Elise and I did all the work ourselves, and the vinyl wall decals were provided by Scribble on Everything, based right here in Houston, Texas. Check'em out. So now we wait... for the arrival of Sofia Rose De Silva, due any day now...

Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen
I was called out recently to shoot the new Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen in The Woodlands. This was a challenge since we were shooting during business hours on a weekend with lots of customers. The use of a slow shutter speed… and a bit of patience… was a creative way to blur people to keep them from being recognizable. I think it turned out well and the client was happy.

Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort
Kickapoo Ranch is a brand spanking new, full service pet PALACE out in the Waller/Cypress TX area. I got to shoot the new facility just as it was opening and getting the finishing touches. Check back in the spring for updated pics of the exterior, but for now here's a preview of the property and a good view of the interior space.

Modern in the Country
What happens when a talented young architect from the city teams up with an amazing family owned builder and builds a house/workshop for a retiring couple in the country? Well, see for yourself! I got together with Lazarides Design + Construction last week to shoot this modern project of theirs. What a treat!

Steel Pipe. Lots of it.
Last week my services were called upon to shoot the Howco Group facility just outside of Houston. They process and distribute specialty steels, and I got to spend the better part of the day wandering around behind the scenes, recording everyday processes, activities, materials and equipment for their new marketing materials.

Antiques Anyone?
This past week I got the opportunity to shoot the products in an amazing French antique shop here in Houston... Joyce Horn Antiques. As a photographer I could have easily spent all day in there, there was so much great stuff! Including their little mascot, Beemer.

New Home Shoot
One of my clients called me to shoot a home. This home is being put on the market and my client came in and transformed it from an old, outdated home that was setup for an elderly person with special needs to something that looks fresh and inviting to prospective buyers, and for very little time/money. As you can see... mission accomplished! Here's just a few sample images from the shoot.
